The Electronics Technician SkillBridge role will perform precision assembly, rework, and test support for advanced defense electronics in an ESD-controlled laboratory environment. The role primarily supports the Electrical Engineering team - prototype builds, first articles, board bring-up, rework, and lab operations - and secondarily supports Production Operations during build campaigns. The Electronics technician works from engineering drawings and controlled work instructions, documents workmanship and changes with full traceability, and helps maintain the laboratory as a calibrated, safe, audit-ready workspace.. This is SkillBridge opportunity will focus on on-the-job training - intended for experienced professionals

As a SkillBridge participant, you will engage in a structured Electronics Technician training program, not an employment role. Under the guidance of an experienced mentor, you will: • Engineering Prototype & First-Article Support (Primary): Perform SMT and through-hole soldering, assembly, and rework of printed circuit assemblies, including fine-pitch work under magnification. Build engineering prototypes and first articles from schematics, assembly drawings, and verbal/redlined engineering direction. Support board bring-up and debug alongside engineers, including basic electronic troubleshooting with multimeters, power supplies, and oscilloscopes.• Cable & Harness Assembly: Fabricate, route, and terminate wire harnesses and cable assemblies - crimping, connector termination (D-sub, circular, RF), labeling, tie-down, and continuity test - to drawing and workmanship standards.• Box Builds & Higher-Level Assembly: Assemble electronic enclosures and integrated units from mechanical drawings, wiring schematics, and assembly instructions, including PCBA installation into chassis, torque-controlled fastening, and final inspection.• Production Support (Secondary): Support Production Operations during LRIP and rate builds: assembly, rework, test-station operation, and first-pass troubleshooting to keep lines moving.• Workmanship, Documentation & Traceability: Follow controlled work instructions precisely; document completed work, deviations, and as-built changes; support redline capture and ECO implementation. Maintain records to AS9100-aligned quality and traceability expectations.• Laboratory Stewardship: Maintain ESD-controlled work areas, tools, and consumables. Assist with lab equipment management, calibration status tracking and recall, asset records, and hazardous-materials documentation (SDS, labeling, storage, disposal).• Safety & Continuous Improvement: Keep a safe, organized workspace; flag process and tooling improvements; support 5S and process-optimization efforts as the team scales. This training opportunity is designed to prepare participants for long-term success in Electronics Technician roles and the defense industry, while supporting OKSI’s mission to develop and deliver intelligent systems and software that support the warfighter.

• To have served at least 180 days in any of the U.S. Armed Forces • To be within 180 days of separation or retirement from any of the U.S. Armed Forces (please start your application prior to the 180 days) • Must be on track to receive an Honorable Discharge • Must have taken any service TAPS/TGPS • Must have command approval to participate in the DoW SkillBridge program • Demonstrated experience with SMT and through-hole soldering, assembly, and rework, including work under magnification.• Hands-on cable and wire harness assembly experience: crimping, connector termination, routing, and tie-down using appropriate calibrated tooling.• Experience with box builds / higher-level assemblies from drawings and work instructions.• Proficient with hand tools, crimpers, torque tools, soldering and rework equipment used in electronics assembly.• Working familiarity with ESD-controlled environments and handling of ESD-sensitive components.• Basic electronic troubleshooting skills: reading schematics and wiring diagrams, continuity and voltage checks, identifying assembly faults.• Skilled in following controlled work instructions and documenting completed work, changes, and discrepancies accurately.• Certification requirement: IPC J-STD-001 and IPC-7711/7721 (CIS level) required within 6 months of hire. OKSI fully funds the training and certification onsite; candidates already certified are preferred but not required at hire.• Fine motor dexterity, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate clearly with engineers, quality, and production staff.
