Business Development - Internship
OKSI is a defense-focused technology company dedicated to enhancing warfighter capability through the research, development, manufacturing, and deployment of intelligent systems and software. This SkillBridge Business Development training opportunity provides transitioning Service members with structured, mentored exposure to civilian Business Development practices within a defense-adjacent environment.Participants receive progressive training in market research, opportunity identification, capture fundamentals, customer engagement models, competitive analysis, and compliance-aware business development processes relevant to the defense sector. The program is designed to translate military planning, leadership, and mission-focused experience into civilian Business Development competencies, while reinforcing ethical conduct, procurement integrity, and information-handling responsibilities.This training plan equips participants with the foundational knowledge, practical frameworks, and professional context needed to pursue post-service employment in Business Development or related defense industry roles.
As a SkillBridge participant, you will engage in a structured Business Development training program, not an employment role. Under the guidance of an experienced mentor, you will receive exposure to the core functions of Business Development in the defense and business-to-business environment.Training activities may include:Learning how organizations identify, qualify, and assess new business opportunitiesUnderstanding customer ecosystems across government, prime, and commercial marketsObserving and participating in simulated product briefings and demonstrationsStudying how conferences, industry events, and whitepapers support market positioningGaining insight into how Business Development interfaces with engineering, product development, and research and development effortsLearning how organizations identify capability gaps and align research and development initiatives to warfighter needsBecause SkillBridge participation is time-limited, the program provides broad exposure to all major Business Development topics, with depth scaled to the approved participation window. Some advanced topics are introduced at a high level and explored in greater detail only if the participant transitions to full-time employment after separation.Participants are encouraged to take initiative in their learning, including independent study and professional development, recognizing that the value gained from the program reflects the effort invested. This training opportunity is designed to prepare participants for long-term success in Business Development and the defense industry, while supporting OKSI’s mission to develop and deliver intelligent systems and software that support the warfighter.
