Retaining Wall Block Installer
The Block Installer SkillBridge Intern supports field crews in the installation of retaining walls and related sitework. This role is ideal for transitioning service members who enjoy physical work, hands on problem solving, and being part of a high performing field team.Participants will learn the fundamentals of wall layout, block placement, compaction, drainage installation, and jobsite efficiency while working directly with experienced installers, foremen, and superintendents.
Key Responsibilities include: Assist with placing, leveling, and aligning block units according to project specifications. Support excavation, grading, and preparation of base materials. Move block, gravel, geogrid, and tools safely and efficiently across the jobsite. Learn to operate plate compactors and assist with proper soil and base compaction. Help install drainpipe, gravel backfill, and geogrid reinforcement. Follow OSHA and company safety standards; participate in daily toolbox talks. Support cleanup, staging, tool organization, and other tasks that keep the crew productive.
Open to all MOS / ratings / AFSCs.
Strong work ethic and willingness to learn physical construction tasks. Ability to lift 50–75 lbs repeatedly and work outdoors in varying conditions. Team oriented mindset with clear communication and reliability. Commitment to safety and situational awareness. Valid driver’s license. Experience with hand tools, compaction equipment, or construction labor. Mechanical aptitude or equipment familiarity. Prior experience in engineering, maintenance, or physical military roles.
