Estimator
The Estimator SkillBridge Intern supports the preconstruction and operations teams by learning how to analyze project documents, quantify materials and labor, prepare cost estimates, and support bidding efforts. This role is ideal for transitioning service members with analytical strengths, attention to detail, and interest in construction planning, budgeting, and project development.Participants will work directly with project managers, senior estimators, and field leaders to understand scopes of work, pricing strategies, risk considerations, and how estimates translate into real world construction execution.
Key responsibilities include: Measure and quantify materials, equipment, and labor from drawings and specs. Interpret plans, details, sections, and schedules to understand project scope. Assist in developing detailed cost breakdowns for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors. Support proposal development, vendor outreach, and pricing reviews. Compare drawings, specs, and addenda to identify gaps or conflicts. Help flag constructability issues, schedule risks, and cost exposures. Learn estimating tools, spreadsheets, and productivity software used in preconstruction. Work with PMs, superintendents, and field teams to align estimates with real production rates.

Strong analytical and mathematical skills. Ability to read or learn to read construction drawings and specifications. Proficiency with spreadsheets and basic computer tools. Excellent attention to detail and documentation accuracy. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Commitment to disciplined, process driven work. Valid driver’s license. Experience in engineering, logistics, operations, or technical military roles. Familiarity with construction, facilities, or maintenance environments. Exposure to estimating software or databases. Understanding of scopes of work, RFPs, or project planning.
