Crew ChiefPurpose of the role:MHIRJ’s network of service centers, support offices and parts depots are positioned in important aviation hubs in the U.S. The Operations Crew Chief, in conjunction with the Supervisor, oversees and/or performs daily activities for an assigned functional area of MHIRJ Aviation. Leading a team of aircraft maintenance technicians, including certificated and/or non-certificated technicians, the Operations Crew Chief is a working member of the maintenance group and is directly responsible to the Maintenance Supervisor. Utilizes component maintenance manuals and Engineering dispositions.

Here are the daily responsibilities of an Operations Crew Chief:• Coordinate workload requirements with Supervisors.• Plans, directs, and coordinates the activities of the assigned Maintenance Department to minimize delays and increase production and efficiency.• Maintains the work areas, building, ground support equipment and materials that are utilized for aircraft maintenance in safe, clean, and operable condition.• Conduct Team Meetings with Supervisor• Oversee employee activities and document as required.• Communicate aircraft discrepancies with Supervisors, customer representatives, and employees.• Provide technical guidance/expertise in functional area up to and including using complex manuals and blueprints.• Mentor, train, and provide performance feedback.• Provide input on disciplinary actions, performance management programs and selection process.• Comply with environmental health and safety policies/procedures.• Participate in 5-S activities.• Provide input on accident investigation and associated paperwork.• Monitor/ensure accurate data collection on employees in assigned work area.• Monitor routine task cards and N/R budgets.• Estimate man-hours and prepare time estimates.• Complete/approve all paperwork prior to turnover to QC/QA for final release.• Working outside may be required at times.• May be required to work on the aircraft to support the business needs.• Performs other duties as necessary to support the efficient operation of the department and company.Here is what is required to succeed:• Minimum of two (2) years of practical aircraft maintenance experience• FAA-issued Airframe or Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license• Thorough knowledge in functional areas as evidenced through previous experience and skill.• Good organizational and communication skills.• Ability to plan and organize tasks; prioritize, assign, and coordinate work.• Advanced knowledge of inspection/ maintenance procedures in functional areas.• Advanced knowledge of pertinent reference materials• Ability to work shift unsupervised within prescribed framework of authority.• Enjoy working on commercial aircraft and growing professionally.• Basic PC (computer) skills.• Engine run and taxi qualifications may be required.• Fuel farm qualifications may be required.Work Environment:We put safety first and take pride in creating workspaces that invite collaboration and innovation.• Our Service Centers are world-class, and our technicians work in climate-controlled hangars that are clean, comfortable, and promote safety.• Position requires full-time presence at our Tucson, AZ facility with on-site collaboration essential to role success.• 12-hour shifts on a 3/4/4/3 schedule, which include days, nights, and weekends.

Program Overview This SkillBridge program provides transitioning service members with hands-on training in a commercial aviation Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) environment. Participants work alongside experienced technicians while learning aviation maintenance procedures, safety practices, and regulatory compliance used in the civilian aviation industry. Phase 1 – Orientation & Safety (Weeks 1–2) • Hangar safety procedures and OSHA standards • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) • Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention • Tool control programs • Aircraft maintenance documentation systems Phase 2 – Systems Familiarization (Weeks 3–6) • Aircraft systems overview • Aircraft inspection procedures • Maintenance manuals and technical documentation • Basic component removal and installation Phase 3 – Maintenance Operations (Weeks 7–16) • Scheduled aircraft inspections • Aircraft servicing procedures • Component removal and installation • Maintenance documentation and work cards Phase 4 – Advanced Training & Workforce Integration (Weeks 17–24) • Aircraft system diagnostics • Maintenance workflow coordination • Quality and safety compliance • Exposure to supervisory or advanced technical responsibilities Expected Outcomes Participants will develop foundational avionics troubleshooting and repair skills applicable to civilian aviation maintenance positions.
