Avionics TechnicianPurpose of the role:MHIRJ’s network of service centers, support offices and parts depots are positioned in important aviation hubs in the U.S. The Avionics Technician installs and tests complex avionics equipment and electrical systems on aircraft while complying with environmental health/safety policies and procedures.
As an Avionics Technician, here is what you’ll be doing at the core, day to day.• Install and test complex avionics equipment and electrical systems on aircraft.• Comply with environmental health/safety policies and procedures.• Perform and document all work per appropriate manuals and regulations.• Remove, repair and re-install any problematic avionics equipment before aircraft is cleared.• Assemble and install electrical components.• Operate ground support equipment if required.• Provide accurate diagnosis of avionics problem(s).• Maintain detailed records of all repairs and work performed on aircraft.Here’s what is required to succeed as an Avionics Technician.• Minimum of 1 year of work experience or substantiated equivalent experience.o Corporate jet aircraft or commercial aircraft experience preferred.o Military aircraft maintenance experience (Depot/Isochronal/Phase inspections) is a plus.• High school diploma or equivalent required.• FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) or Airframe (A) License is preferred or progress towards acquiring.• GROL (General Radiotelephone Operator License) or AET (Aircraft Electronics Technician) Certification preferred.• Certification from Avionics, Electric A/C Technical school or equivalent military training is preferred.• Comfortable working with technology / entering aircraft maintenance actions into a computer-based system.• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.• Excellent analytical skills and attention-to-detail.• Strong working knowledge of aviation safety practices and technology.• Understand various aircraft systems, such as hydraulics and flight controls.• Ability to obtain a Security Identification Display Area badge (SIDA), if applicable.• Must be comfortable with shift work; we are a 24/7 operation with 12-hour shifts which include days, nights, and weekends.• Possess (basic) set of tools.• Ability to effectively communicate aircraft maintenance actions verbally and in writing.Work Environment:We put safety first and take pride in creating workspaces that invite collaboration and innovation.• Our Service Centers are world-class, and our technicians work in climate-controlled hangars that are clean, comfortable, and promote safety.• Position requires full-time presence at our Tucson, Arizona facility with on-site collaboration essential to role success• Must be comfortable with shift work; we are a 24/7 operation with 12-hour shifts which include days, nights, and weekends.

Program Overview This SkillBridge program provides transitioning service members with hands-on training in a commercial aviation Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) environment. Participants work alongside experienced technicians while learning aviation maintenance procedures, safety practices, and regulatory compliance used in the civilian aviation industry. Phase 1 – Orientation & Safety (Weeks 1–2) • Hangar safety procedures and OSHA standards • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) • Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention • Tool control programs • Aircraft maintenance documentation systems Phase 2 – Systems Familiarization (Weeks 3–6) • Aircraft systems overview • Aircraft inspection procedures • Maintenance manuals and technical documentation • Basic component removal and installation Phase 3 – Maintenance Operations (Weeks 7–16) • Scheduled aircraft inspections • Aircraft servicing procedures • Component removal and installation • Maintenance documentation and work cards Phase 4 – Advanced Training & Workforce Integration (Weeks 17–24) • Aircraft system diagnostics • Maintenance workflow coordination • Quality and safety compliance • Exposure to supervisory or advanced technical responsibilities Expected Outcomes Participants will develop foundational avionics troubleshooting and repair skills applicable to civilian aviation maintenance positions.
