Semiconductor Manufacturing Technician/Nanotechnologist Internship at Center for Nanotechnology Education and Utilization (CNEU) - Internship
The Microelectronics and Nanomanufacturing Certification Program hosted by the Center for Nanotechnology Education and Utilization (CNEU) at Penn State University gives service members an immersive experience in the areas of nanotechnology and semiconductor manufacturing. During the program trainees will learn the fundamental processes used to manufacture the micro and nano sized devices which power our everyday lives. Service members will hear from a large variety of companies throughout the program. Trainees will be assisted with resume development, professional development, and equipped with technical and hands-on skills to help them land careers in nanotechnology, semiconductor, or adjacent industries.
Service members will attend lectures every day, and hands-on labs 2-3 times a week, throughout the program. They will be trained on semiconductor manufacturing, nanotechnology, and nanocharacterization. Trainees will be assessed through regular homework assignments, online lab activities, and quizzes. Trainees will be responsible for attending all in-person hands-on labs at their specific opportunity location. Students will be expected to develop their resume and apply to at least 3 companies of interest during their time in the program under the supervision and support from CNEU leadership.

The list of MOCs is listed here as a reference, and not a requirement.
Candidates should have a background in science and basic math, and a familiarity with electronics, mechanics, or mechatronics.

Interview prep for this program▸
- ▸ "How many of your past SkillBridge interns received full-time offers?" — a serious program knows the number.
- ▸ "Who will my day-to-day mentor be, and what does week one look like?"
- ▸ "The listing says 1 - 30 days — can that flex to my approved window if my command shortens it?"
- ▸ "Is relocation expected for a full-time offer, or can I convert where I am?"
- ▸ "You list ET, EM, LS — what did interns from those specialties end up doing here?"
- ▸ Confirm the eligibility notes above — ask exactly what they need from you and when.
- ✓ Your projected start window and separation date (from your profile)
- ✓ Your command's approval status — even "packet drafted" signals you're serious
- ✓ Your civilian-translated resume bullets (generate them here)
- ✓ A written training-plan ask — you'll need it for your packet anyway
