Next Move NY-Brite-Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst Internship

Next Move NY is sponsoring Brite for the SOC Analyst SkillBridge which will allow interns to learn Security Operations Foundations, Operations, get familiar with the tools and shadow others in the role. From there they will be trained in Stellar Cyber and learn about the Core Alert Triage. They will become proficient in documenting and managing security cases and tickets with TheHive, Halo, and IT Glue and how to handle case escalations. They will learn how to work with Crowdstrike Falcon, SentinelOne, and Tenable.io. Their training will also touch on handling Customer Reported Incidents pertaining to scams, malicious links/attachments, Phishing and other suspicious scenarios. Nearing the end of the internships, they will be able to handle Incident Investigations, responses, and see them through their full lifecycle, and asserting their independence in low to moderate risk alerts and cases. They will complete a Capstone Investigation and Skills Assessment which will then prepare them for what a Full-Time Role Transition is going to look like or prepare for the next stage of their internship. As the internship comes to a close, they will meet with SOC leadership and their mentor to review training, certifications, and overall progress and competencies to identify areas for continuing professional development and identify the next steps following the SkillBridge to ensure smooth conclusions and where applicable, entry into a full-time Brite SOC position.

The Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst is primarily responsible for monitoring and investigating the triggered events generated by the suite of security tools within each customer's environment. utilizing the data present within those tools, analysts will follow pre-existing playbooks to troubleshoot and make remediation recommendations to the impacted customer's point of contact. Additionally, analysts will continually evaluate each customer's network's security posture to identify any gaps in visibility and effectively present those to the customer for continuous improvement opportunities.
