Next Move NY - American Red Cross Eastern New York Community Volunteer Engagement SkillBridge
The Next Move NY-American Red Cross of Eastern NY provides a hands on experience into their Volunteer and Community Engagement team allowing them to learn about the mission, structures, lines of service, and compliance when it comes to serving local communities. Interns will learn about volunteer recruitment, be able to develop their own messaging, help with interviews, strategies, and outreach. They will get an all around experience not only with volunteering but also working with Disaster Workforce, operations, leadership and data analytics. This will help them understand how to support volunteers during events and disasters, how to analyze and work with data collected from projects for future recommendations and collaborate with leaders on regional projects and responses. They will be able to learn how to handle real-life scenarios, demonstrate initiative and leadership, problem solving, project management, and community engagement. At the end they will complete a capstone project on a meaningful real-life scenario with topics including volunteer recruitment campaigns, recruitment events, community partnerships, and process improvement initiatives. They will get feedback and mentorship from their instructors.
The Community Volunteer Engagement Team focuses on engaging volunteers within their local communities and providing them with meaningful opportunities to help strengthen and improve the communities where they live and work.
