Montana Department of Justice - Job Training Program
The Office of Consumer Protection is a part of the Montana Department of Justice under the direction of Attorney General Austin Knudsen.The Office of Consumer Protection SkillBridge Program is designed to provide veteran attorney’s the opportunity to learn two unique areas of law: Consumer Protection and Anti-Trust under both Federal and Montana laws. Through Continuing Legal Educational courses, conferences, and daily application the veteran will learn and hone their skills as an attorney in this niche area of law. Along with learning these particular areas of law the veteran will learn or continue to grow in their use of office technology, negotiation skills, writing skills, and multidistrict litigation all within the overall timeframe.
The on-the-job training will be provided on-site at 555 Fuller Avenue, Helena, MT as well as the Office of the Attorney General. Anna Schneider, Bureau Chief of the Office of Consumer Protec-tion, will be the point of contact for the veteran and will meet weekly with the veteran (or more frequently as needed). Other attorneys and staff will assist with skills acquisition.Week 1-2 Introduction to the Attorney General’s Office and file structure along with Office Technology.Week 3-24:• Anti-Trust Law• Consumer Protection Law• Multidistrict Litigation• Negotiation Skills and Theories• Writing Skills
