Military Trades - HVAC Technician Internship - 16-24 Weeks

Our HVAC Technician SkillBridge Program connects transitioning service members with a nationwide network of over 3,000 independent HVAC contractors. Prior to the start of the internship, Participants begin with remote training designed to help them earn the NATE “Ready to Work” certificate and EPA 608 certification. After training, candidates complete a 10-26 week hands-on SkillBridge internship at one of our participating contractor locations. Upon successful completion of the internship, participants may be considered for employment with the host contractor. Those hired may also have the opportunity to enroll in our upcoming Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship Program, which supports long-term career development in the HVAC field.

We are seeking motivated service members to participate in our Entry-Level HVAC Technician SkillBridge Internship. This opportunity is ideal for those beginning their HVAC career or seeking hands-on training in the field. Interns work under the supervision of experienced technicians and gain exposure to residential and commercial HVAC systems. Responsibilities: Assist with installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC equipment. Perform basic troubleshooting under supervision. Replace filters, inspect components, and check refrigerant levels. Learn to read wiring diagrams, manuals, and basic blueprints. Support technicians onsite, follow safety procedures, and maintain tools and a clean work area. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED. HVAC training preferred but not required. EPA 608 (or willingness to obtain). Basic electrical/mechanical understanding. Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in various weather conditions. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Strong work ethic and willingness to learn. Program Benefits: Hands-on training and real-world HVAC experience. Mentorship from experienced technicians. Applicants should meet general physical requirements for HVAC field work. This includes the ability to lift and carry 50–75 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 100 lbs. Must be comfortable working on ladders, rooftops, and scaffolding, as well as kneeling, squatting, bending, and crawling in tight spaces such as attics, basements, and crawlspaces. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods is required. Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity are needed for handling tools, wiring, and small components, along with frequent reaching and grasping during installations and repairs. Work conditions may include temperature extremes (hot attics, cold basements, outdoor weather), loud noises from equipment and tools, confined or enclosed spaces, and exposure to dust, refrigerants, and other particulates (proper PPE provided). Candidates must have adequate vision (corrective lenses permitted) to read gauges, wiring diagrams, and identify system issues, and adequate hearing to detect equipment sounds and communicate in noisy environments.

This opportunity is open to our extensive network of HVAC contractors throughout the Continental United States. All training is at our Contractor locations, which would be the location of eventual employment.
