Shelter Navigator Support for Animal Care & Control

Program summary

The Skillbridge participant will support the Diversion Team and the Business Office during this internship. They will learn the options available to residents to avoid surrendering their dogs to the shelter. They will assess cases, provide resources, and schedule appointments. Support services will be provided by phone, in person, and via email. Working closely with the Shelter Diversion Navigator, Business Office Supervisor, Customer Service Manager, Business Office Lead, and frontline staff, they will receive comprehensive training in performing necessary public services.

Roles & job description

The Administrative Specialist performs a wide variety of specialized clerical and administrative work that requires the application of independent judgment within department policies and procedures.

Additional notes

The work location is an Animal Shelter. Work is generally performed in an office/administrative environment with the shelter. Some interaction with dogs is required.
