Program summary

The service member will join the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) / National Risk Management Center (NRMC) / Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff (ACOS). The service member will participate in a 120-day program where they will provide high-level coordination and collaboration, written content and technical editing services, improve organizational knowledge sharing, improve tool utilization within the NRMC, and gain hands-on experience with technical editing, knowledge management, presentation, and communication skills.

Roles & job description

The service member will be assigned to the NRMC ACOS subdivision supporting the Production and Knowledge Management teams, working side by side with NRMC leadership and staff and external partners to complete the tasks below and others as time and opportunities allow. Participants will: • Apply knowledge of guides, standards, policy directives and instructions, to conduct detailed content and technical document/product reviews, using proper editing techniques.• Use written and oral communication skills to coordinate and collaborate with product authors/leads, ensuring editor comments and corrections are properly adjudicated within specified product timelines.• Use knowledge of NRMC Production Process to advise stakeholders and move products properly and smoothly from conception to publication and distribution.• Use understanding of the MS Excel based NRMC Product Tracker system to make entries and assist with maintaining its accuracy.• Use knowledge of SharePoint to assist SharePoint site owners and end users (answer specific questions, troubleshooting problems, conduct basic technical research, and proactively create solutions for needs and challenges).• Use understanding of NRMC’s Knowledge Management platforms and governance to communicate with, collaborate with, and guide leadership and end users with best practices concerning storage, maintenance and shareability of institutional knowledge as well as best security practices to protect sensitive information. • Use understanding of SPO permissions best practices to manage NRMC-wide access groups and advise site owners of proper implementation.• Use MS Power Platform knowledge to maintain existing automation tools and existing SharePoint capabilities.

Eligibility notes

Participant is required to be onsite in Arlington, VA. Secret Clearance Required. Minimum 1 year experience in fields related to document review and content/technical editing, communications and knowledge management. Proficiency with MS365 product applications (Word templates, Excel, PowerPoint). Demonstrated attention to detail, critical thinking, customer service, oral communication, ability to quickly learn processes and procedures and respond to tight deadlines. Familiarity with sensitive product handling / controls (FOUO, SBU, CUI, etc.). Enjoy interacting across groups (internal stakeholder interaction) to come up with creative, effective solutions and perform solution testing, etc. Bonus qualifications are: o Technical writing and editing experience to include implementation of standards, guidelines, and analytic tradecraft standards ICD 203 / ICD 206.o Proficiency with Word templates, styles, tables, editing tracking tools, etc.o Knowledge of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.o Knowledge of graphic support using visual materials such as photographs, illustrations, charts, diagrams, typography, and exhibits as tools for communicating information.o Editing and permissions experience with Knowledge Management tools (SharePoint Online (SPO), Teams, Power Platform, etc.). o Familiarity with JavaScript, JSON (JavaScript Object Notation), HTML5, CSS, XML, jQuery, SQL Server, and/or Web Services.
