ATS Workforce Development & Technical Training
Aviation Technical Services provides transitioning Active Duty Service Members with a structured SkillBridge training experience in commercial aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul at our Everett, Washington facility.Participants complete a combination of ATS orientation, classroom instruction, hands-on demonstrations, supervised on-the-job training, technical reading, weekly coaching, and practical exposure to commercial aircraft maintenance operations.Key training components include workplace and aviation safety, FAA repair-station requirements, human factors, tool control, FOD prevention, maintenance documentation, task cards, technical manual navigation, aircraft structures, mechanical systems, electrical and fuel systems, avionics, inspection procedures, quality standards, and maintenance workflow coordination.The program is designed to help participants translate military aviation, mechanical, electrical, avionics, inspection, and technical experience into civilian aircraft maintenance careers.
As a SkillBridge Participant – Aircraft Maintenance, the Service Member will train alongside ATS maintenance professionals in a commercial aircraft maintenance environment.Training and supervised responsibilities may include:Assisting with aircraft inspections, servicing, maintenance, repair, modification, and troubleshootingReading and interpreting maintenance manuals, task cards, engineering instructions, illustrated parts catalogs, and technical publicationsSupporting work packages, maintenance records, non-routine documentation, and OJT formsLearning ATS safety, quality, tool-control, FOD-prevention, human-factors, and compliance proceduresGaining exposure to aircraft structures, sheet-metal repair, corrosion control, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, landing gear, fuel systems, electrical systems, avionics, communication systems, navigation systems, and environmental systemsParticipating in maintenance meetings, inspection processes, production workflow, and quality activitiesReceiving weekly feedback, mentoring, and progress reviews from the designated ATS leaderDemonstrating attendance, professionalism, safe work practices, technical development, and readiness for possible full-time employmentProspective full-time ATS career paths may include Aircraft Maintenance Technician, Apprentice Mechanic, Structures Technician, Avionics Technician, Systems Mechanic, Aircraft Inspector, Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and other aircraft-maintenance-related positions
Air Force • 2A Aircraft Maintenance Career Fields Army • 15 Series Aviation Maintenance Navy • AD Aviation Machinist's Mate • AM Aviation Structural Mechanic • AE Aviation Electrician's Mate • AT Aviation Electronics Technician Marine Corps • 60/61 Occupational Fields (Aviation Maintenance) Coast Guard • Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) Other aviation, mechanical, electrical, avionics, or technical military specialties with transferable maintenance experience are encouraged to apply.
Must be an Active Duty Service Member eligible for SkillBridgeMust be within the authorized period before separation or retirementMilitary command approval is requiredHigh school diploma or GED requiredMilitary aviation, mechanical, electrical, avionics, inspection, quality, or technical experience preferredMust complete applicable ATS onboarding, background screening, drug testing, safety training, customer requirements, and badging requirementsMust meet applicable FAA and ATS requirementsMust be able to perform the physical requirements of the opportunity with or without reasonable accommodation
This is an unpaid SkillBridge training opportunity. Participants remain Active Duty Service Members during the program. Successful completion does not guarantee employment. Employment consideration will depend on performance, qualifications, available openings, and business needs.
