Aircraft Sheet Metal Mechanic - Hands-on

To provide military members with an opportunity to increase their military training and skills in a Career with WR-ALC for the Depot Inspection, Maintenance and repair of USAF aircraft, avionic/electronic devices and aerospace ground equipment.

Technicians frequently lift and carry, unassisted, items weighing up to 18 kilograms(40 lbs.). They are sometimes required to lift and carry items weighing more than 23 kilograms (50 lbs.) with the help of weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers.Some workers may be required to work outdoors, in parked aircraft, at high places utilizing man lifts, in confined spaces, or in hazardous noise areas. Workers may be exposed to vibrations and extremes of heat, cold, and inclement weather. Dirt, dust, grease, solvents, and aircraft fluids may be common in the work-place. Work involves the possibility of cuts, bruises,Muscle strains and injuries from falls from scaffolds or ladders or from lifting equipment. Some works may be exposed to toxic fumes and high-pressure air and fluids. Workers may berequired to wear appropriate safety gear such as protective eyewear, fall arrest lanyards, hearing protection, respirators, etc. The work requires frequent standing, walking, bending,Crouching, reaching, and stooping. Climbing and working in high places may be required. Some work may require the aid of magnifying lenses, eye loops, and microscopes to accomplishRepairs on miniature components in high and restricted places, under conditions of heat and cold and outside in inclement weather. They are exposed to the possibility of electric shocksBurns from electrical or RF energy or hot solder; and cuts and bruises

Military personnel with at least 5-years of technical aircraft maintenance experience in all branches of services and must be cleared for a security clearance DoW SkillBridge programs provide eligible service members with job training and career development opportunities to acquire employment skills, knowledge, and/or abilities to assist service members with job opportunities in the civilian sector. DoW SkillBridge industry providers' training programs must offer a high probability of post-service employment with the industry provider or other employers in a field related to the opportunity. However, DoW SkillBridge participants are not entitled to a job with the specific industry provider as a result of completing the DoW SkillBridge programService members are authorized to participate at locations and installations other than where they are currently assigned. The service member is responsible for his or her own travel to and from their home installation including if recalled by a unit commander for duty, as well as final out-processing requirements. Each service and/or command may establish specific requirementsAll military personnel are subjected to the Uniform Code of Military Justice until their official retirement start date and separation date from the military.

The DoD SkillBridge Program provide military service members the opportunity to gain valuableCivilian work experience. It offers specific industry training, on-the-job experience during the last 120-180 days of military service. Service members can receive up to 180-days of permissive duty with approval from their unit commander. WR-ALC offer real-world training and work experience in demand fields of work allowing members to be tasked evaluated and certified for possible employment at Robins AFB, Georgia.
