Florida Highway Patrol - Job Training Program

Program summary

The Florida Highway Patrol is excited to offer a SkillBridge opportunity that will allow service members to obtain the skills that will lead to an exciting career in law enforcement. Service members participating in the Communication Officer SkillBridge opportunity will have the opportunity to apply for a wide variety of law enforcement positions both sworn and non-sworn within the Florida Highway Patrol and the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. The Florida Highway Patrol will implement a Communications Training and Evaluation Program that establishes guidelines and objectives to achieve an effective and efficient training and evaluation program for new Regional Duty Officers and Call Takers. The minimum length of training shall not be less than fourteen (14) weeks and the maximum length shall not exceed twenty-four (24) weeks. The training program will be administered in the following order: Module I - Orientation, Module II - Call Taking, Module III - Radio, Module IV - Combination, Module V - Shadow.

Additional notes

Participants in the Florida Highway Patrol Communications Officer SkillBridge training will be able to complete background screening and other requirements if interested in attending the Law Enforcement Academy and becoming a sworn officer with the Florida Highway Patrol upon separation from military service.
