We're seeking a Marine Mechanical Engineer to lead our marine function. The ideal candidate has a background with marine engineering and the ability to handle both hands on engineering work while leading a small team of mechanical engineers. This is a highly important and visible role that will lead the development of technologies that will be used in the deployment, operation and retrieval of our modular hydropower technology, and peripheral systems.
Requirements- Must have BS or greater in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or similar - 7+ years of experience with marine or hydrokinetic systems, components, or technologies- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills- Comfortable relying on strong first-principles engineering skils- Experience using CAD Software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD or similar- Proficient with 3D solid modeling with the ability to produce and review mechanical engineering drawings- Familiarity with Matlab, LabView, MathCAD or similar applications- Exceptional technical and problem-solving skills- Practical experience with Finite Element Analysis applications- US Citizenship requiredNice to Have:- Comfortable working with outside vendors and clients- Hands-on practical experience working in a shop or laboratory environment- Understanding of design for manufacturability (high/low volume)- Program related technical writing reporting- CAD surface modeling- Marine and/or UUV experienceResponsibilities- Manage a mechanical engineering team- Manage mechanical vendors- Lead the mechanical and subsea systems development- Program Reporting- Manage multiple programsCompany Benefits- Medical insurance - Company contribution towards premiums- Dental insurance- Company contribution towards premiums- Vision insurance- Company contribution towards premiums- HSA with $500 annual company contribution (with qualified plan enrollment) - FSA medical option- FSA dependent care option- Short and long term disability (No cost to employee)- Life insurance and AD&D benefits (No cost to employee) - 401(k) plan with company match- Generous time off offering that includes: 4 weeks of PTO to start, 2 weeks of sick and safe time, and 11 company paid holidays - Fully stocked kitchen with snacks and beverages- Relocation package available - Flexible work environment
