Program summary

VA Wholesale Mortgage is a Veteran owned and operated Mortgage Brokerage located in Virginia Beach, VA. We have another physical branch in Jacksonville FL. We are licensed in VA, NC, TN, DC, MD, FL, and GA. We are looking for Active duty, Veterans, and Military spouses who are interested in learning about residential mortgages and how we can best serve our community and continue getting families into homes. This opportunity is for a course where you will have classroom training as well as hands on training to learn how to be a Loan Officer. Once you have completed your Skillbridge training, VA Wholesale Mortgage would love to discuss continued employment opportunities.

Roles & job description

A loan officer is responsible for helping customers research mortgage loans and navigate the application, approval and closing process. They recommend loan options to clients and explain their terms, determine risks for loaning to clients based on their credit and process paperwork. They are expected to collect and prepare all materials needed to secure a loan and review applications. During our course, you will have the opportunity to become a licensed Loan Officer. The course is meant to train you and prepare you to become a successful loan officer. Upon completion of the training and once your originator test is passed, you will then be able to generate loans for residential mortgages.

Interview prep for this program
Ask them
  • ▸ "How many of your past SkillBridge interns received full-time offers?" — a serious program knows the number.
  • ▸ "Who will my day-to-day mentor be, and what does week one look like?"
  • ▸ "The listing says 151 - 180 days — can that flex to my approved window if my command shortens it?"
  • ▸ "Is relocation expected for a full-time offer, or can I convert where I am?"
Bring to the conversation
  • ✓ Your projected start window and separation date (from your profile)
  • ✓ Your command's approval status — even "packet drafted" signals you're serious
  • ✓ Your civilian-translated resume bullets (generate them here)
  • ✓ A written training-plan ask — you'll need it for your packet anyway
