Park Ranger (Recreation)
Performs on the ground duties in support of recreation areas and facilities.including site monitoring and data collection. Hands on skills and knowledge are required for the variety of recreation needs including carpentry, painting, cleaning, mechanical repair and small equipment or tool operation. Good communication skills working with a partner or in reporting accomplishments or specific needs is highly recommended within this team.
This position may include building and maintaining a variety of recreation trails and facilities; providing trail and recreation site information to the public; recreation site maintenance including building and sign maintenance/ installation; and public contact, including educating visitors about rules and regulations. One of the principal duties of this position will be restroom re-stocking, sweeping, moping, and sanitizing restroom and toilets at campgrounds and outlying recreation sites. Cleaning campground sites including ashes from fires, trash pickup and raking. Duties may include environmental education/outreach to school groups and adults, on guided hikes or outreach events. Work is moderate in difficulty in both extreme summer heat and moderate off-season temperatures. Hiking distances of 2 to 5 miles is common. Lifting up to 80 lbs is occasionally required. Job may include other duties as assigned.
