Program summary

There are 4 opportunities available.This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS); Office of Partnership and Engagement (OPE). The primary purpose of this position is to serve, in a developmental capacity, as a Partnership and Engagement Specialist within OPE. Tracks engagement activities throughout the OPE as well as DHS component offices. Tracks policy developed and laws proposed at the state & local levels that may impact the policies and positions of the department. Coordinates with state and local officials to disseminate information regarding new and proposed policies, procedures and programs. Responds to inquiries from state and local officials regarding DHS policies and programs. Schedules phone calls and meetings with Governors, state homeland advisors, Mayors and their staff on behalf of the supervisor.

Roles & job description

There are 4 opportunities available.Supports a variety of Partnership and Engagement activities, relating to administrative, research and analytical duties and a variety to liaison activities and special assignments related to mission and functions of the office. Responds to administrative and programmatic problems brought to the attention of the Assistant Secretary. Relieves the Assistant Secretary of unnecessary interruptions and demands on his/her time by handling matters or forwarding issues to the appropriate individual(s). Responsible for meeting assigned deadlines. Assists in conducting briefings on special projects and sensitive administrative programmatic issues. Works with OPE staff on strategizing, designing and implementing advocacy efforts in support of Partnership and Engagement projects and initiatives. Assists in coordinating Partnership and Engagement actions, which may require review and analysis of legislation, and regulatory actions that may affect SLTT offices and transmits information to SLTT officials and their staffs as appropriate. Assists in developing and managing the process.
