HQ - Office of Chief Security Officer (OCSO) - Criminal Investigator - Unpaid Internship
Responsible for planning, conducting and reporting on a full range of criminal investigations, including those of an extremely sensitive and complex nature, in an effort to protect the Department's personnel, property, facilities and information. The incumbent is called upon to use a high degree of ingenuity and initiative while conducting investigations.
Plans and conducts sensitive criminal investigations and, when appropriate as the lead criminal investigator, may direct other criminal investigators who are assigned to assist in the investigations. These investigations may have interagency, national and/or international dimensions. Typical investigations include: unauthorized disclosures, theft of government property to include classified information; sabotage; threats against employees; threats to national welfare and security; threats to OHS facilities and locations; and incident response to attacks on OHS facilities. Responsible for assisting in developing facts and evidence, gathering information and intelligence, conducting analyses, preparing and executing warrants, effecting arrests and preparing detailed investigative reports used in the prosecution of criminal defendants. This includes eliciting information from individuals of diverse backgrounds such as government employees, police officials and the general public. Develops informants and other sources of information leading to the arrest, apprehension and/or detention of suspects. Makes arrests, executes search warrants, testifies in court, interviews witnesses and develops evidence that substantiates allegations. The incumbent may serve in an undercover capacity, conduct surveillance work and operate under arduous conditions for long hours.
Basic pre-employment investigative background check may be required.
