Inpatient/Outpatient PT/OT

This program is designed for a licensed Occupational Therapist or licensed Physical Therapist transitioning from military service into a civilian rehabilitation services environment. The program provides a structured progression from orientation and shadowing to supervised on-the-job training, advanced clinical integration, professional development, and final readiness evaluation.The participant will operate within their applicable OT or PT licensure, organizational privileges, supervision requirements, and department policies. The program is intended to support civilian workplace transition, department-specific workflow readiness, and potential alignment with future employment opportunities.Participants who successfully complete the program may be considered for open positions based on business needs, qualifications, licensure, credentialing requirements, and performance.

Participants may rotate through inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation areas, including but not limited to:Acute care hospital unitsSkilled nursing or swing bed settingsOutpatient therapy clinicsSpecialty rehabilitation programsInterdisciplinary care team environmentsAdministrative and program development experiencesUnder the guidance of licensed preceptors and department leadership, the SkillBridge participant may observe and assist with activities related to:Evaluating patient needs in accordance with PT or OT scope of practiceSupporting the development and implementation of individualized treatment plansAssisting patients with mobility, strength, endurance, coordination, balance, activities of daily living, functional independence, and recovery goalsObserving inpatient therapy services, discharge planning, and interdisciplinary care coordinationObserving outpatient therapy visits, treatment progression, patient education, and follow-up careLearning documentation expectations, regulatory requirements, safety standards, and department workflowsParticipating in team huddles, care conferences, and collaboration with nursing, providers, case management, and other clinical staffDemonstrating professional communication with patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare team membersFollowing infection prevention, patient privacy, workplace safety, and organizational policiesReceiving feedback from preceptors and applying coaching to improve clinical and professional readiness

Licensed as an Occupational Therapist or Physical Therapist or the ability to obtain the license to practice in ND before OJT.

This position is in person in Minot, ND or surrounding areas. Trinity Health supports northwestern North Dakota and eastern Montana.
