Trane helps customers succeed by providing innovative solutions that optimize indoor environments through a broad portfolio of energy-efficient heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems, building, contracting and energy services, parts support and advanced controls for homes and commercial buildings. Trane serves engineers, contractors and building owners on all continents and in an array of markets including education, healthcare, government, industrial/manufacturing, data centers, lodging, retail and commercial real estate. The SKB training at Trane is focused on the development of knowledge, skills and abilities as it pertains to Commercial HVAC Technician job duties. This includes commissioning, troubleshooting, repairing, and starting up HVAC systems in a commercial environment. The Trane SkillBridge training includes engagement with the long-established Veterans Employee Resource Group (VERG) for mentorship, networking and work/life fulfillment.

Roles & job description

The on-the-job training schedule includes, but is not limited to activities pertaining to HVAC Service for the Commercial HVAC Americas Service Department. Trane Commercial HVAC Service Technician Interns work directly with an Area Service Manager, Team Leader or Senior HVAC Technician at customer sites in and around the local area performing both scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance, inspections, site surveys, and service requests for a variety of commercial and industrial equipment. Training curriculum includes the following components as well as other learnings as opportunities present themselves in the scope of commercial HVAC service work. Introduction to Craft Skills (Basic safety, hand tools, power tools, construction drawings, communication skills, customer service skills and material handling). Introduction to HVAC Theories (Trade mathematics, introduction to heating/cooling/air distribution, and basic piping practices). Refrigeration and Basic Components. Troubleshooting Techniques. HVAC Electrical Safety and Troubleshooting. Auxiliary Systems. Chilled Water System Service

Eligibility notes

Priority will be given to transitioning service members with applicable training and experience as it pertains to HVAC, Mechanical and other applicable skillsets.
