The Military Transition Barber Trainee program provides transitioning service members with hands-on barber training, classroom instruction, client service experience, and professional development designed to prepare participants for careers in the barbering industry and Texas barber licensure.
The Military Transition Barber Trainee participates in a structured training program designed to develop the knowledge, technical skills, and professional behaviors required for employment in the barbering industry. Training includes classroom instruction, practical application, and supervised client service experiences.Participants receive training in sanitation and infection control, haircutting, tapering, fading, shaving, beard and mustache design, scalp and facial services, customer service, professional image, and barber shop operations. Additional instruction includes state laws and rules, safety procedures, communication skills, business fundamentals, and career development.The program is designed to prepare transitioning service members for employment opportunities within the barbering profession and to support progress toward Texas barber licensure requirements. Training is conducted under the supervision of experienced licensed professionals in a real-world educational environment that emphasizes professionalism, technical excellence, and client satisfaction.
Open to all MOS / ratings / AFSCs.
Command approval for participation in the DoD SkillBridge Program. Interest in barbering as a career, professionalism, dependability, and commitment to completing the training program.
Must be approved by military command for participation in the DoD SkillBridge Program. Participants should have an interest in pursuing a professional career in barbering, demonstrate professionalism and reliability, and actively participate in classroom instruction, practical training, and supervised client service experiences.
