AAAA Active-Duty Agriculture Academy - Internship
Land At Home Project AAAA Active Duty Agriculture Academy provides a systematic approach that combines hands-on apprenticeship and online learning to gain a holistic foundation in agriculture, and experience in regenerative grazing and military land management. The program is in collaboration with the U.S. Army’s first regenerative grazing initiative at Camp San Luis Obispo, CA. Participants will engage with techniques in adaptive multi-paddock (AMP) grazing, soil health management, and biodiversity restoration, that ultimately lead to military training land resilience. In addition, participants will have online learning culminating in a certificate (non-credit bearing) from The University of Arizona in a course called LAHP Ag 102.
The Land At Home Project AAAA Active Duty Agriculture Academy is an immersive hybrid learning opportunity with academic online education via The University of Arizona LAHP Ag 102, which culminates in a non-credit-bearing certificate. Additionally, each participant gains hands-on experience in regenerative grazing and land restoration, preparing participants to be future leaders in agriculture. Based at the Regenerative Grazing Open Air Lab (R-GOAL) at Camp San Luis Obispo, CA, the program combines hybrid learning with hands on experience over the course of the program. Participants will receive training in essential skills, including fencing, water system setup, livestock movement, and solar power setup. They will learn pasture management, cattle observation, and metrics collection to monitor soil health and livestock performance. Formal regenerative agriculture training will cover soil health, environmental impacts, and profitability, with expert guest lecturers. Participants will also work with cattlemen and ranchers to understand stockmanship, supplement management, and enterprise analysis. Participants may help with hosting and briefing senior officials and contribute to data management and progress reporting. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain experience at the intersection of regenerative agriculture and military land management.
