This SkillBridge opportunity is offered through TalentBase’s approved Veterans CareerBridge training program and third-party provider structure. The opportunity provides transitioning service members with structured, hands-on industry experience, supervised work-based learning, mentorship, career readiness support, and documented performance feedback. Participants are matched with an employer partner and gain practical exposure to civilian workplace expectations, team collaboration, role-specific responsibilities, and potential post-transition employment pathways. Training may include structured onboarding, online instruction, classroom-style learning, hands-on demonstration, supervised project work, on-the-job training, mentor-led coaching, midpoint and final evaluations, and transition support.
DarkMatter is seeking a Dual-Use Subject Matter Expert through the DoW SkillBridge program to support its dual-use technology investment and accelerator platform. This role provides hands-on exposure to evaluating emerging technologies with both commercial and government/defense applications, supporting early-stage companies, and advising on technical feasibility, scalability, integration risk, and transition pathways. The participant will work closely with internal leadership, industry stakeholders, and partners to bring a technical and mission-aware perspective to investment, accelerator, and growth decisions. Key responsibilities include reviewing and assessing technical aspects of early-stage dual-use technologies; evaluating maturity, feasibility, integration risk, and scalability; providing technical input to internal reviews and accelerator decisions; identifying commercial and government use cases for emerging technologies; helping connect technical, mission, and market considerations; supporting the translation of technical capabilities into real-world applications; participating in technical discussions with industry; providing feedback on product direction and technical roadmaps; supporting accelerator programming, reviews, and advisory sessions; engaging with industry, government, and innovation partners as appropriate; and contributing to broader discussions on technology transition and DarkMatter is seeking a Dual-Use Subject Matter Expert through the DoD SkillBridge program to support its dual-use technology investment and accelerator platform. Desired background includes transitioning active-duty service members eligible for SkillBridge with technical experience in one or more areas such as software engineering, systems engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, AI, autonomy, robotics, cybersecurity, communications, sensors, advanced computing, or related technical fields. Ideal candidates will have experience supporting complex technical or mission-driven environments, strong analytical ability, strong communication and problem-solving skills, and an interest in technology commercialization, innovation, and dual-use applications.
Candidate must be an active-duty service member eligible for DoW SkillBridge and able to receive command approval. Preferred candidates will have field experience, technical experience, systems thinking, operational judgment, strong communication skills, and experience working in complex mission-driven environments. Interest in dual-use technology, commercialization, defense innovation, venture acceleration, or technology transition is strongly preferred.
