The primary purpose of the position is to perform law enforcement work to maintain law and order, preserve the peace, protect life and civil rights, detect and investigate crimes, arrest or apprehend violators, and perform patrols within the jurisdiction of the military installation.

MAJOR DUTIES:1. Law Enforcement: Responds to and investigates emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service. Exercises search and arrest authority, detains witnesses, apprehends suspects, interviews witnesses and other persons involved, determines whether facts warrant apprehension or lesser action. Collects and preserves evidence, conducts long and short-term investigations on criminal cases and analyze facts to identify suspects and develops case information for use in pressing charges and bringing suspect to trial. Appears in court to testify as required in Military Court-martials or Federal and State Court proceedings. Provides sworn testimony based on the investigative process, evidence gathered, witness’ statements in criminal and traffic courts. Performs required lifesaving first aid in the event of an emergency as the first responder to an incident until medical emergency personnel arrive. Conducts and/or participates in civilian training regarding various law enforcement topics conducted on an Army installation. Upon notification, responds to Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) and Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility(SCIF) alarms and determines probable cause (actual or false alarm). (40%)2. Patrol/Traffic: Conducts traffic law enforcement patrol using specialized equipment such as radar, LiDAR and breathalyzer. Operates motor vehicle which may involve high speed pursuit of suspects. Conducts investigative stops, questions, detains, and issues traffic citations. Monitors traffic surveys, traffic-signal observance, speed studies, passenger counts, etc. Sets up road blocks, traffic-control points, and directs traffic. Apprehends violators as required by applicable laws or regulations. Responds to radio calls or reports situations that are general assistance. Takes required actions to resolve various incidents and requests additional support. Performs operator level services on assigned vehicles. Performs access control duties by applying local instructions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Pre-Planned Responses (PPR), Random Anti-terrorism Measure (RAM), and Force Protection (FP) Conditions to control vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Randomly searches departing traffic to detect the unauthorized removal of government property. Processes visitors by determining purpose of visit; gives appropriate instruction/directions; determines the need for escorts. As initial point of contact, answers visitor questions and provides assistance. (25%)3. Investigations/Surveillance: Performs protection duties to deter, detect, and deny unauthorized access at fixed installation, internal compound, and incident perimeter posts. Protects personnel, material, tactical military assets, and high value assets by executing daily RAM and supplemental-terrorism measures during increased force protection conditions. As a member of a tactical team, establishes an incident perimeter, contains terrorist activity, and executes a course of action to defeat attackers. Establishes Incident Command at the onset of terrorist attack or other significant incident affecting public safety and the installation mission. Employs National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS) protocols to establish commandant control, develop a course of action to contain, mitigate, and recover from the incident. Assures criminal or Antiterrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) measures are met to protect installation command and assure mission accomplishment. Participates in AT exercises to maintain proficiency in response to installation natural or terrorist threats. (25%)4. Administrative/Technology: Operates the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) terminal in accordance with federal and state laws to transcribe data. Provides response to interpreted messages, (e.g., broadcasts Attempt to Locate/Be on the lookout to patrols, types response to sending agency, briefs appropriate person as to content of message, etc.). Uses word processing and web-based law enforcement computer programs to establish, update, query or print detailed reports, forms, and citations concerning all incidents and action taken. Prepares documents, correspondence, reports, messages and charts statistical tables. Takes fingerprint and DNA samples. Work is completed in draft or final form. (10%)

Military Police

Civilian Department of the Army Police Officer follow the AR 190-56, ST-19 LESM, and AR 190-14 for our standards and grading.

There will be no credentials unless the individual completes a 10-week Army Civilian Police Academy course in the 0083 series but will gain knowledge of what is expected of them in the Civilian Police Field. This is the basic understanding for all civilian military police, each Military Department (Amry, Airforce, Marines, Navy) have different mission requirements but the job is the same.
