SAPA Transmission is offering a DoD SkillBridge opportunity for transitioning service members to serve as a Transmission Field Service Representative (FSR) supporting U.S. Army tracked vehicle transmission systems. This hands-on role allows experienced Army mechanics to apply their technical expertise in a high-impact civilian position focused on maintaining operational capability and equipment performance. Participants will gain valuable industry experience while continuing to support Army readiness, with a clear pathway toward post-service employment.
As a Transmission Field Service Representative (FSR), you will serve as the on-site Subject Matter Expert (SME) for tracked vehicle transmission systems. Responsibilities include overseeing installation, maintenance, repair, and performance validation of transmission assemblies; diagnosing and troubleshooting complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues; and disassembling, inspecting, repairing, and rebuilding transmission components to ensure optimal functionality. You will ensure all work is performed in accordance with technical manuals, schematics, safety standards, and company quality requirements while maintaining detailed service documentation and managing field service inventory.This role requires strong mechanical experience, ideally from Army wheeled or tracked vehicle maintenance backgrounds, with expertise in powertrain, drivetrain, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency with hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment, along with the ability to interpret technical documentation and perform root-cause analysis. Professional communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to travel on short notice are essential.
