A SkillBridge opportunity as a Medical Technician at the San Antonio MEPS provides hands‑on experience supporting medical readiness evaluations, including vitals collection, specimen handling, and diagnostic testing for military applicants. Participants work alongside experienced clinicians to learn accession medical standards and strengthen their technical and patient‑care skills in a structured, mission‑driven environment. This role is ideal for service members preparing to transition into civilian healthcare technician roles.

Roles & job description

Responsible for medically in processing military applicants by verifying identity through biometrics, maintaining medical records, and ensuring accurate completion of required forms. Conducts quality reviews, enters medical data into USMEPCOM systems, manages HIV/DAT reporting, and coordinates medical consultations with civilian providers.Performs a wide range of medical screening tasks, including interviewing applicants, reviewing medical history, taking vitals, conducting phlebotomy, processing lab specimens, administering hearing and vision tests, performing EKGs, and overseeing drug and alcohol testing with strict chain of custody procedures. Provides first aid for adverse reactions and determines when retesting or medical referrals are required.Maintains and calibrates medical and diagnostic equipment, manages medical supply inventory, and ensures compliance with OSHA, Privacy Act, and USMEPCOM regulations. Supports administrative duties, customer service, and training of new personnel.
