Painting Technician
The objective of this program is to prepare the intern to perform Painter responsibilities in active federal and military facility environments with proficiency in surface preparation; interior and exterior paint application; primers, sealers, protective coatings, and specified finishes; brush and roller techniques; safe operation of ladders, lifts, scaffolding, sanders, and painting equipment; interpretation of drawings, specifications, work orders, and manufacturer requirements; protection of occupied spaces; environmental material handling and disposal; quality control and corrective painting; and professional conduct in secured government environments.
The Painting Technician will learn professional interior and exterior painting and related surface-preparation work for federal government facilities, military installations, and other secured government properties. Training includes surface preparation, application of primers, sealers, paints and protective coatings, equipment operation, project specification review, quality control, environmental practices, and compliance with federal, military installation, OSHA, security, and site-specific requirements.
