Fortiline Waterworks, a division of Reece USA, is proud to offer a hands-on SkillBridge opportunity for transitioning service members interested in learning the critical trade of utility estimating within the waterworks industry. As a Waterworks Estimator trainee, participants will gain real-world experience reviewing construction plans, generating material takeoffs, collaborating with vendors, and building cost estimates for major water infrastructure projects. This is a remote opportunity based in Florida, ideal for individuals located within driving distance of one of our Florida branch locations. The role blends field understanding with project coordination and is well-suited for mission-driven leaders with strong analytical and operational planning skills.
The Waterworks Estimator SkillBridge trainee will support Fortiline Waterworks’ estimating team in preparing material takeoffs and job quotes for municipal, commercial, and residential utility projects. This role includes reviewing construction drawings, interpreting specifications, creating bill-of-materials (BOMs), and collaborating with internal sales teams and vendor partners to generate competitive and accurate job bids.Trainees will be mentored by experienced Estimators and exposed to a full-cycle project estimation workflow, including:• Reading and interpreting site plans and civil blueprints• Identifying proper materials for water, sewer, and storm drain systems• Generating material takeoffs using digital tools and estimating software• Coordinating with vendors for pricing and product availability• Supporting customer inquiries and internal account managers• Learning Reece/Fortiline’s proprietary estimating systems and workflow processesThe position is remote within Florida and best suited for highly motivated transitioning service members with experience in operations planning, construction, logistics, engineering, or maintenance control. Strong computer skills, attention to detail, and a solutions-oriented mindset are key to success.

• Must be an active-duty service member eligible for participation in the DoD SkillBridge program• Must have commander approval to participate in a full-time civilian training program for 90–180 days prior to separation• Ideal candidates possess strong computer skills (Excel, Outlook, digital plan reading tools) and a detail-oriented mindset• Must reside in Florida and be within reasonable driving distance of a Fortiline Waterworks branch (e.g., Fort Myers, Ocala, Jacksonville, Lake City, West Palm Beach, Sanford, Panama City)• Background in operations planning, construction, engineering, or technical logistics is a strong plus• Must be available for in-person training at least periodically if needed, with stable internet and a professional remote work setup
