P1AR’s Advanced SAR Helicopter Mission Instructors are Subject Matter Experts (SME) providing Rear Crew Synthetic Training and Live Flight Advanced Helicopter Search & Rescue and Tactical Operations Law Enforcement training to DoD entities as well as to the Commercial Aviation Marketplace. P1AR’s Instructors qualify 1) DoD pilots, crew chiefs, special mission aviators, Flight Mechanics, 2) Commercial Pilots, Hoist System Operators and Rescue Specialists/Swimmers for external customers and 3) internally for P1AR aircrews and partner pilots, performing initial, recurrent, and standardization check flights. P1AR’s Advanced SAR Helicopter Mission Instructors work under the P1AR’s Training Division (TRAIDIV) and are required to analyze, develop, and evaluate basic and advanced SAR hoist, short-haul rescue, law enforcement tactical rappel and fast rope, aerial gunnery, helicopter external sling load operations (HESLO) and other relevant FAA Part 133 HEC training courseware. Instructors are responsible for applying their SME in delivering instructor-led courseware, self-paced computer-based training, desktop simulations, virtual hoist SAR simulation ( Advanced Aircrew Mission Simulator) and supporting curriculum materials such as instructor guides and electronic briefing plans. P1AR’s Advanced SAR Helicopter Mission Instructors are authorized to provide instructional duties without direct supervision and have the authority to terminate in-flight training instruction at his/her discretion when pilots, hoist system operators or rescue specialists that are under instruction are not adhering to prescribed safety procedures.
Priority 1 Air Rescue's (P1AR) uniqueness in the aerospace community is recognized worldwide as being an unrivalled preeminent provider for offshore SAR-Air Ambulance services, initial and advanced helicopter SAR / Tactical Mission training, and operational standardization using both Synthetic training and Live Flight helicopter training. P1AR provides a core of highly dedicated and standardized instructors designated as P1AR Advanced SAR Helicopter Mission Instructors to perform offshore SAR-HEMS services and Domestic and International Initial and Advanced SAR Helicopter Hoist Operator Training. Upon completion of P1AR’s Skill Bridge Training program the respective Service Member will be designated as a “P1AR Advanced SAR Helicopter Mission Instructor” and qualified to perform instructional training in the 1) Advanced Aircrew Mission Simulator (AAMS), 2) Hoist Procedural Tower (HPT) training device and perform various 3) “Live Flight” actual mission training in the respective helicopters. 4) Duty Standing SAR operations in respective helicopters.
