Participants gain experience interacting with executive leadership, human resources professionals, recruiting units, and operational personnel while developing transferable civilian career skills applicable to talent acquisition, workforce development, recruiting management, consulting, and program administration.

Roles & job description

The Law Enforcement Talent Acquisition Specialist (Recruiter) assists public safety agencies with workforce development initiatives, recruiting program optimization, and Department of Defense SkillBridge program implementation. Under the supervision of experienced mentors, participants support projects designed to improve recruiting effectiveness, streamline candidate selection processes, and develop sustainable talent acquisition strategies.Typical duties include:• Conducting workforce and labor market research• Evaluating agency recruiting processes and identifying opportunities for improvement• Supporting the development and implementation of SkillBridge programs for law enforcement agencies• Assisting with recruiting strategy development and workforce planning initiatives• Maintaining customer relationship management (CRM) systems and stakeholder records• Preparing professional correspondence, presentations, and executive briefing materials• Supporting meetings with agency leadership, recruiting personnel, and community stakeholders• Assisting with recruiter training and program adoption activities• Conducting agency intelligence research related to staffing, recruiting, and workforce challenges• Developing reports, recommendations, and workforce assessments for participating agenciesSuccessful participants must be comfortable communicating with executive-level stakeholders, managing multiple projects simultaneously, conducting independent research, and supporting training initiatives for recruiters and hiring personnel with varying levels of talent acquisition experience.

Eligibility notes

Applicants should possess demonstrated experience in Recruiting, leadership, training and instruction, mentorship, or workforce development activities. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience training, coaching, or developing personnel; managing projects, programs, or operational initiatives; and coordinating multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.Successful applicants should demonstrate strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills, including the ability to engage professionally with senior leaders, executives, community stakeholders, and elected officials. Candidates should be comfortable presenting information, providing recommendations, facilitating discussions, and representing the organization in both internal and external settings. Ideal candidates will have experience working across multiple departments or organizations, managing complex tasks with minimal supervision, and contributing to strategic planning, recruitment, talent management, workforce development, or organizational improvement initiatives.
