Roles & job description

This Ramp Service Technician opportunity allows eligible service members to gain hands-on experience as a technician in a dynamic and fast-paced aviation environment. Participants will receive training and mentoring from experienced professionals, gaining practical skills in aircraft handling, ground support equipment operation, safety protocols, and ramp operations. This role will provide an excellent foundation for a career in aviation ground services and equip participants with the skills necessary to thrive in the civilian workforce.Responsibilities:Assist in the safe and efficient handling of aircraft, including marshalling aircraft to and from gates, loading and unloading baggage and cargo, and operating ground support equipment (e.g., tugs, belt loaders, deicing vehicles).Conduct safety inspections of equipment to ensure functionality and compliance with safety standards.Follow detailed safety protocols and communicate effectively with team members and flight crews to ensure smooth ramp operations.Operate and maintain ground support equipment, ensuring all systems are functioning properly before use.Assist with deicing procedures during winter operations.Participate in training sessions, applying learned skills to real-world ramp operations.Observe and follow all airport security procedures, ensuring safe handling of luggage, cargo, and aircraft equipment.Maintain a professional demeanor while working in a fast-paced environment, ensuring adherence to company safety and operational standards.Qualifications:Eligible for the SkillBridge program (must meet military transition eligibility).Strong interest in pursuing a career in aviation ground services.Ability to work in a team environment and follow instructions from supervisors and mentors.Strong communication skills and attention to detail.Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.Ability to operate basic ground support equipment, or willingness to learn.Must be able to safely navigate a busy ramp environment, maintaining situational awareness.Training and Experience:Participants will gain on-the-job training that includes:Aircraft Handling: Learning procedures for marshalling, towing, and moving aircraft.Ground Support Equipment: Gaining hands-on experience with tugs, belt loaders, and other essential equipment.Safety Protocols: Understanding and applying safety practices, including the use of PPE and hazard identification.Security Procedures: Learning about airport security requirements and handling cargo and luggage in compliance with safety regulations.

Background Check: A background check is required for all candidates to gain access to the airfield. This is a standard security procedure to ensure compliance with airport regulations and safety protocols.Valid Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license is required to operate ground support equipment and vehicles on the airfield. Candidates must have a clean driving record with minimal violations.
