Safety Professional Instructor/Auditor - Job Training Program

Program summary

This program will provide the opportunity to develop existing safety skills and develop new safety skills allowing the intern to prepare for a career in Safety. The intern will shadow the Lead Safety Instructor to build knowledge and skills regarding safety best practice, emergency response and education. This program will focus on safety instruction, and professional safety services such as; auditing, writing and implementing safety plans.

Roles & job description

This intern opportunity is in Palmer, Alaska. Intern participants must be able to pass a background check and a drug test, lift 50 pounds, stand for long periods of time, work with a diverse group of individuals, appreciate the benefits of performing work safely, and enjoy educating others about the pillars of safety. Interns will shadow the safety representative at NIT to learn best practice and emergency response. Some light travel may be required, and with ample notice provided.

Eligibility notes

Internship is based in Anchorage and Palmer, requirements are a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record/ CDL preferred with experience, Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug test prior to hire. Must be able to lift and carry 50+ lbs. Willing to work in harsh environments. Travel at short notice as needed. Available to work Flexible schedule. Will dress in appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
