This Skillbridge opportunity offers you the chance to attend the Norman Police Academy during the final months of your enlistment. To participate, you must apply at www.NewNormanCops.com, secure Skillbridge approval through your chain of command, and successfully complete our hiring process.
Upon your appointment as a Police Recruit with the Norman Police Department, you will begin your training at the Norman Police Academy. This 26-week program exceeds the minimum standards set by the Oklahoma Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) and provides comprehensive instruction to prepare you for a career in law enforcement.Recruits are full-time employees receiving a salary and benefits while attending the academy. (Note: Skillbridge recruits are not eligible for compensation or benefits until their service obligation ends.) All necessary uniforms and equipment are provided. Training includes both classroom instruction and hands-on field exercises covering topics such as criminal law, self-defense, and tactical operations.Upon graduating, recruits will transition into patrol field training to further develop their skills in real-world policing.
