The SkillBridge Health Score

A single, transparent read on an employer, from the signals we can actually stand behind. It exists so a transitioning service member can tell a real, responsive SkillBridge operation from a listing that quietly died in 2023 — without reading between the lines. No employer can pay to raise it.

Veteran-hiring commitment

30%

Depth of the SkillBridge footprint — number of programs, how specifically listings target military occupation codes, years in the directory, and geographic reach. All from the official SkillBridge.mil data. A provider dormant for 24+ months is capped here. Employers that hold a U.S. Department of Labor HIRE Vets Medallion — an audited federal award for veteran hiring and retention — earn a verified boost (Platinum higher than Gold), surfaced as a badge on their dossier.

Candidate experience

30%

How candidates actually fare: the share who get a response after applying (published only at 5+ sends), the median days to respond, and the anonymous 3-metric candidate reviews (responsiveness, mentorship, placement). Unlocks once there's real interaction data.

Transparency & trust

20%

Is someone accountable behind the profile? A domain-verified claim, data confirmed current in the last 30 days, a tracked-and-current DoW agreement (MOU), and recent directory activity each contribute.

External reviews

20%

Aggregate employer ratings from sources like Glassdoor and Indeed, when integrated for a company — the rating and a link only, never republished review text. Absent for most employers today; when absent, it's left out of the score rather than counted against them.

The honest-metrics rules
  • Missing data never lowers the score. We compute over the factors we have data for, then renormalize — and publish a confidence figure (the share of the score backed by real data) alongside it. Thinly-backed scores are labeled provisional.
  • Tiers are earned against the field, not a fixed bar. "Strong" means the top 10% of all employers by score, "Solid" the top 20%, "Developing" the top 50% — recomputed continuously as the whole directory's scores move.
  • No black box.Every factor shows its subscore, its weight, and the specific evidence behind it on the employer's dossier.
  • No republished reviews. External sources contribute an aggregate rating, a count, and a link — we never copy review text.
  • Verified credentials link back to the source. The DOL HIRE Vets Medallion badge comes straight from the Department of Labor's public awardees list and links to it, so anyone can check it themselves.
  • Not pay-to-play. Featured placement is clearly labeled and separate; it does not touch this score.
