NAVSEA Southwest Regional Maintenance Center - Job Training Program
SWRMC Engineering Department serves as the source of support for engineering and technical services for SWRMC. The primary areas of this support are Fleet Technical Assistance (FTA), engineering support of SWRMC’s contract management and oversight organizations, Fleet directed assessments, and support of the Local Technical Authority for SWRMC Departments and naval vessels in our area of responsibility.SWRMC Engineering has delegated technical authority warrant issued by NAVSEA 05 and vested on the SWRMC Chief Engineer (CHENG). In this capacity, SWRMC CHENG serves as Adjudication Compliance Officer to enforce technical requirements and policy. SWRMC Engineering is responsible for directly communicating with Type Commanders (TYCOMS), Program Offices, Warfare Centers (WARCENs), System Commands (SYSCOMs), In-Service-Engineering Agents (ISEAs) and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) for purposes of sharing lessons learned, waterfront technical observations, and seeking collaborative partnerships to resolve Navy maintenance issues.
The Engineering Department is accountable to the SWRMC Commanding Officer, Commander Navy Regional Maintenance Center, Pacific Fleet Maintenance Officer and NAVSEA 05 for the technical adequacy and integrity of technical and engineering decisions made within the SWRMC and its detachments. Engineering Department consists of 9 functional divisions and 38 operating branches under the administrative supervision of a Branch/Division Head and report to the Department head for administrative purposes and the technical supervision of the CHENG for technical matters. Each work unit has their own unique cost center associated with their respective functions.This opportunity will allow individuals to contribute to ship maintenance during rotations as appropriate and gain experience in the relative rotational technical code. Successful individuals will be able to demonstrate understanding of SWRMC C200 processes and procedures and be able to perform at the entry level.
