C280 The Planning Yard is the Navy's Design agent for all non-nuclear installations on a class of ships. The activities involved in the Planning Yard functions include: Development of Engineering Drawings, Monitor and make engineering projections for ships distributive systems, Maintain ship's Configuration Control database, Engineering Configuration Manager for Carriers, Agent to NAVSEA for review and approval of refueling overhaul drawings, Update Ship's Selected Record Technical documentation.

Job Title: General Engineering Technical, GS-05 through GS-10Job Description: The C283 primary function of this position is to support three areas of responsibility for the shipyard, the Engineering and Planning Department, and the entire navy maintenance community which includes Plan Files/WEB-JEDMICS, Technical Library, and Computer Support. Plan Files/WEB-JEDMICS: Plan Files maintains an on-site hardcopy drawing warehouse and supports NNSY EPY issued engineering drawing needs for NNSY and the entire Navy maintenance community. Naval Ships Engineering Drawing Repository, aka WEB-JEDMICS, maintains a web-based central digital drawing repository for all U.S. Naval ships’ engineering drawings. Plan Files branch also maintains a separate engineering drawing repository for all sensitive U.S. Naval ships’ engineering drawings, the Controlled - Naval Ships Engineering Drawing Repository, for personnel with access behind the naval shipyards’ firewall. Technical Library: The central library for NNSY maintains and controls about 7,000 ships’ technical manuals used regularly by NNSY personnel to perform ships’ repair, overhaul, and modernization work. Additional technical manuals required by NNSY personnel to perform work occasionally are requested from the HUB, the central library at Naval Station Norfolk, on a one-day notice by the library staff. Computer Support: Hardware and software needs by the Engineering and Planning Department personnel are processed, tracked, and acquired, via the Information Resources Management Office, Code 109, by Plan Files staff. Code 200 personnel computer server rights are requested and controlled by the staff.

Eligibility notes

You must be a US Citizen, be able to gain a Security Clearance, pass a background check, and potentially pass a drug screening. This position is on location at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, VA.
