Junior Cybersecurity Associate - Cybersecurity Training
The Missouri Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (MCCoE) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to strengthening the cybersecurity workforce and safeguarding regional organizations. We partner with universities, emerging cybersecurity professionals, and small to medium-sized businesses to deliver hands-on training, real-world security support, and workforce development programs unlike anything else in the nation. As a Cybersecurity Associate, you will play an essential role in advancing this mission—helping protect vulnerable organizations, supporting live security operations, and contributing to cutting-edge training initiatives that prepare the next generation of cybersecurity talent. MCCoE offers a unique environment where learning, service, and innovation come together to make a measurable impact on our community.
Junior Cybersecurity Associate – As a Junior Cybersecurity Associate, you will build foundational skills across cybersecurity essentials, networking, operating systems, programming, firewall management, encryption technologies, ethical hacking, threat analysis, APT concepts, threat hunting fundamentals, penetration testing techniques, risk assessments, vulnerability management, EDR/SIEM platforms, SOC operations, and core professional competencies such as leadership and communication. You will gain hands-on experience with modern security tools and training environments, strengthening your resume and developing marketable skills that align with the needs of today’s global cybersecurity workforce. This role provides a unique opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute to real-world cybersecurity efforts while preparing for industry certifications and future advancement.
Computer Related Skills
1. Be recommended for advancement or promotion and retention by Military; 2. Basic Understanding of Computers and IT Office Products (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Web browser, etc.); 3. Ability to attend Instructor In-person Training in SOC; 4. Have ability to reach online resources via a computer; 5. Valid State Driver's Lic.
While there are portions of the program that can be completed online, the majority of the work will be completed on-site, Monday-Friday (8am-4pm) in the MCCoE Security Operations Center (SOC). The MCCoE SOC is located in the Jordan Valley Innovation Center at 524 N Boonville Avenue, Springfield, MO 65806.
