Market Intelligence Specialist
The Market Intelligence Specialist supports Market/Dean’s (MKD) business development and growth strategy by gathering, organizing, and synthesizing market, competitive, and opportunity intelligence across the federal defense market and the commercial national security ecosystem.
This is a research- and analysis-heavy, behind-the-scenes role — the Specialist does not represent MKD externally or engage clients directly. Core responsibilities include helping to build out HubSpot pipeline data structure and taxonomy; refining government and commercial Ideal Customer Profiles (ICPs) using real market data; tracking federal opportunities across agencies and acquisition vehicles; monitoring the commercial defense technology ecosystem; mapping the competitive landscape; supporting pre-RFP capture and opportunity shaping; building event and relationship intelligence; and producing periodic intelligence briefings that inform executive decision-making. The role culminates in the delivery of a standing intelligence Concept of Operations (CONOPS) and a business case evaluating investment in paid intelligence platforms.
No college degree required. Prior civilian business development or market research experience is not required, though a background in research, analysis, or intelligence work — military or civilian — is a strong plus given the scope of this role.Comfortable with structured, detail-oriented research — cross-referencing multiple sources and keeping records accurate and currentWorking proficiency in Microsoft/Google Drive, particularly Excel/Google Sheets and Word/Google Docs.Comfortable learning new software systems independently.Strong written communication for documentation, tracking notes, and SOP writing.Comfortable with ambiguity and open-ended research tasks.Access to a personal laptop capable of running standard business software (MKD does not currently provide loaner equipment).
