Medical Technician

Upon completion, the participant will have completed approximately 400 hours of supervised medical operations training aligned with TSJTS 01–38. The participant will demonstrate exposure to and supervised participation in core MEPS medical workflows including prescreen review, applicant intake, medical screening, testing support, examination assistance, and medical systems utilization. The participant will demonstrate understanding of HIPAA, applicant confidentiality, safety procedures, and professional conduct. Participants will gain familiarity with MHS GENESIS documentation workflows and data security requirements. Graduates will be prepared to support medical processing operations under supervision and demonstrate readiness for Medical Technician roles within MEPS or comparable civilian healthcare environments.

Serves as a Medical Technician in a Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS). The incumbent provides assistance to the examining Medical Officer with applicant examinations and identification of observable physical characteristics (e.g., missing digits, scoliosis, pes planus). This includes supporting the discovery of potential disqualifying enlistment or retention factors and assisting the Medical Officer’s determination of an applicant’s fitness for military duty. All duties are performed under the supervision of the Medical Officer and in accordance with established MEPS policies and procedures.
