Program summary

Jerry Pate Turf & Irrigation is the leading Commercial Golf & Grounds equipment Distributor in the Southeast and Midwest. We are seeking a Service Technician Apprentice for our Cleveland, OH Branch. This position will learn troubleshooting, diagnostics, evaluations, repairs, set up and maintenance on commercial turf equipment, under the supervision of a skilled technician. These skills include troubleshooting and repairing gas and diesel engines, hydraulic systems, drivelines, electrical systems, and cutting units. This position contributes to customer satisfaction by fixing equipment right the first time and meeting repair promise dates.

Roles & job description

1. Assist technicians in trouble shooting, diagnostics and repairs of equipment 2. Diagnose, trouble shoot, & repair commercial equipment within given timelines 3. Set-up new commercial equipment per operator’s manual & customer requirements. 4. Clean equipment prior to repair work performed. 5. Review customer service history and repair request prior to repair. 6. Make repairs specified on repair orders; follow company procedures for quoting and approval when additional work is needed. 7. Review appropriate technical references before starting unfamiliar jobs. 8. Utilize special tools & equipment as required for set-up or repairs. 9. Create parts list for ordering or for estimates and give to service manager for ordering or estimate approval.

Eligibility notes

Preferred background in mechanical repairs and maintenance of equipment with gasoline or diesel engines Strong safety awareness, adherence to all safety rules, and ability to work in a constant state of alertness. Applicants should meet the physical requirements of the position, including, but not limited to standing for an entire shift, climbing, lifting, bending, stooping, moving equipment up to 75 lbs., physical labor, etc. Ability to work outside in all climate conditions and maintain a constant state of alertness.
