City of Burlington - First Responder/Entry Level Firefighter I
Entry level Firefighter I, II. Participant will be educated, and trained on the IFSTB firefighter I, II skills. Participant will be expected to complete hands-on NFPA 1001, Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications job performance requirements (JPRs).These skills will be proctored by "in-house" Burlington Firefighters with Instructor I status. This proposed opportunity will allow the participant to gain entry level firefighter skills, in addition to transitioning into the civilian professional work atmosphere.
The three main priorities of the EMS/Entry Level Firefighter I position are life safety, incident stabilization and property conservation. The major purpose of the firefighter position is to save lives and property by providing emergency and non-emergency fire, rescue and emergency medical services (within the scope of practice) to the community. Under direct supervision, the firefighter position shall function effectively within a structured system of operation, perform with designated policies, procedures, state or federal laws, and communicate clearly and professionally to citizens, co-workers and superior officers.
Open to all MOS / ratings / AFSCs.
SkillBridge participants will not be required to fulfill the optimal 180 days of internship. Participants that fulfill less than 180 days will still participate in the designed firefighter I, II curriculum offered by the department.
