Private Equity

Thurion Capital is a veteran founded independent sponsor and lower middle market private equity firm headquartered in Tampa, Florida, minutes from MacDill AFB. The Private Equity and M&A Intern program embeds a transitioning service member on a live deal team for the full SkillBridge period. Fellows carry real workstreams on transactions the firm is actively underwriting and on companies it already owns, which today span government services, executive recruiting, and industrial manufacturing.Curriculum: deal origination and proprietary owner outreach, teaser and CIM screening, buy side due diligence, quality of earnings review, financial statement analysis, valuation and LBO modeling, debt structuring and SBA and bank lender packages, letter of intent and purchase agreement mechanics, and post close value creation and operating cadence.Delivery is in person in Tampa and blends classroom instruction, online instruction, hands on demonstration and on the job training, guided project work, case study analysis, live transaction shadowing, executive mentoring directly with the Managing Partner, and a capstone investment committee presentation.There is no cost to the service member. Fellows who perform can continue into the firm's CEO in Residence track, in which Thurion places the individual into the C-suite of a portfolio company.

Day to day duties on the Thurion deal team:Source and qualify acquisition targets. Build target lists, run owner and broker outreach campaigns, maintain the CRM pipeline, and take first calls with sellers.Screen inbound opportunities. Review teasers and confidential information memoranda, run the initial screen, and write the one page investment summary with a recommendation to pass or proceed.Build and maintain financial models. Three statement models, LBO and returns models, debt schedules, working capital and quality of earnings analysis, and sensitivity cases.Run due diligence workstreams. Draft and track the diligence request list, manage the data room, review financials, contracts, and customer concentration, and summarize findings for the Managing Partner.Support financing. Prepare lender packages for SBA and conventional lenders, assemble the capital stack, and track term sheets and commitments.Support portfolio operations. Build reporting packages, KPI dashboards, and 13 week cash flow forecasts for portfolio companies, and support post close integration and value creation plans.Prepare deal materials. Investment committee memoranda, letters of intent, and investor updates.Capstone. Present a full investment thesis, model, and recommendation to the investment committee at the end of the program.These duties map directly to post transition roles as a private equity analyst or associate, corporate development or mergers and acquisitions analyst, transaction advisory analyst, portfolio company finance or operations manager, or C-suite position within a portfolio company

Open to all MOS / ratings / AFSCs.

Open to all branches and components. Must be approved for SkillBridge by the parent command and within 180 days of separation or retirement. Must be able to report in person to the Tampa office. Bachelor's degree preferred. MBA or graduate business coursework welcome but not required. Comfort with Excel, strong written communication, and a demonstrated record of owning results weigh more heavily than prior finance experience. Selection is by interview with the Managing Partner.
