Compliance Intern - Internship

The intern will gain practical knowledge in various cybersecurity frameworks, network security, firewall management, and participate in security awareness training. They will build foundation in CMMC and NIST, learning compliance frameworks, documentation requirements, and how GRC supports customer CUI environments. They will develop governance skills by reviewing and drafting policies, standards, procedures and other documentation while continuously evaluating customer artifacts for alignment. They will strengthen incident response capabilities by creating procedures and a tabletop exercise based on their work. They will participate in enhancing customer-facing dashboards and reporting tools, join sales and customer delivery calls, and manage customer action items. During the final weeks, they will delve deeper into areas of interest, including working on projects, exploring security tools, participating in customer meetings, reviewing policies and procedures, conducting gap analyses, and setting up Microsoft 365 tenants for clients.

We are looking for a motivated self-starter that is passionate about cybersecurity with a strong desire to be an integral part of the team. The Compliance Internship Program is designed to offer interns business and technical exposure to core elements of the cybersecurity discipline, including audits server, firewall, Microsoft 365 configurations, and other security appliance configurations. Oversees the Change Management Program for internal and external users. Develops CMMC Compliance Reports for external stakeholders. Maintains POA&Ms and SSPs for external stakeholders. Performs Incident Response Exercises. Leads Security Assessments for internal and external stakeholders.

Cyber-centric

To be considered for this internship, the candidate must be seeking an associate, bachelor, or master's degree in cybersecurity, computer engineering, or a related discipline, and have had exposure to core information security functions, including network and application vulnerability testing, role-based access control (RBAC), security information and event management, and/or computer incident management. To be successful, a candidate should be proficient in Linux and Windows, and have at least two years of information technology experience and exposure to three or more of the following security technologies: Linux Bash and Python Scripting; Networking; Microsoft Windows (including Active Directory and Azure); NIST SP 800-171, SP 800-53, RMF, or CSF; Firewalls, intrusion prevention systems (IPS), and malware protection technology; Network vulnerability testing; Encryption technologies such as IPSEC; SIEM technologies such as Splunk, LogRhythm or Elasticsearch; Network+, CCNA, Security+ or other cybersecurity related certifications are desired.

The intern will be provided with a laptop, dock, monitors, keyboard and mouse, camera, and headset for remote work. Most of the hands-on instruction and OJT will be through Microsoft Teams, although the opportunity for interacting on-site will present itself naturally. This is a remote work position, but candidates must live in or near Dallas, Texas or be willing to relocate if offered a permanent position.
