Confined Space Attendant / Rescue TechnicianIES Safety is hiring transitioning service members into our Confined Space team, supporting industrial, oil & gas, and commercial clients across the Gulf region. Interns train alongside certified technicians on atmospheric monitoring, entry permitting, hole-watch duties, retrieval systems, and emergency rescue procedures in compliance with OSHA 1910.146. The role builds on the discipline, situational awareness, and team-based safety mindset service members already possess. Training prepares interns for full-time placement as Confined Space Attendants or Rescue Technicians at the conclusion of the program. Industrial Firefighter / Emergency Response TechnicianIES Safety trains transitioning service members as Industrial Firefighters supporting refineries, petrochemical facilities, and commercial clients throughout the region. Interns develop competency in industrial fire suppression, foam application, hose handling, SCBA use, hazmat awareness, and incident command coordination, working alongside experienced response crews on active job sites. Military fire, damage control, and emergency response experience translates directly into this role. The program is designed to prepare interns for immediate full-time hire as Emergency Response Technicians upon successful completion.

Confined Space Attendant / Rescue Technician — Job DescriptionPosition OverviewIES Safety's Confined Space Attendant / Rescue Technician supports industrial, oil & gas, and commercial clients by providing on-site safety monitoring, atmospheric testing, and emergency rescue capability for personnel working in permit-required confined spaces. The position supports client emergency response teams during operational turnarounds, hot work, and high-hazard activities, and serves as first-line defense against industrial fires, hazmat releases, and medical emergencies.Key ResponsibilitiesStand fire watch during hot work, welding, and other high-hazard operationsOperate fire suppression equipment including fire trucks, monitors, foam systems, and handlinesPerform pre-shift inspections of apparatus, hoses, foam supplies, hydrants, and PPERespond to fire, hazmat, rescue, and medical emergencies as part of an industrial response teamApply foam and water suppression techniques appropriate to hydrocarbon and Class B firesOperate within an Incident Command System (ICS) structure, taking direction from the Incident CommanderConduct hose advancement, ventilation, search, and victim rescue operationsMaintain SCBA, bunker gear, and response equipment in mission-ready conditionParticipate in site drills, pre-incident planning, and client safety stand-downsProvide basic life support and first aid until EMS arrivalDocument all responses, inspections, and training activities accuratelyQualificationsActive-duty service member within 180 days of separation, approved for SkillBridge participationHigh school diploma or equivalentPrior military firefighting, damage control, CBRN, or emergency response experience strongly preferred but not requiredAbility to wear full bunker gear and SCBA for extended periodsCapable of lifting 75+ lbs, climbing, crawling, and performing strenuous physical tasks under stressValid driver's license; CDL preferred (or willingness to obtain)Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and physical fitness evaluationTWIC card preferred (or willingness to obtain)Post-Internship Outcome Upon successful completion of the SkillBridge program, interns are eligible for full-time hire as an Industrial Firefighter or Emergency Response Technician with IES Safety, with advancement pathways into Engineer/Driver, Lead Responder, Captain, or Emergency Response Coordinator roles.
