Position OverviewThe UAS Operations Manager supports the planning, coordination, and oversight of commercial unmanned aircraft system (UAS) operations in a regulated aviation and field environment. This position assists in ensuring regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, safety management, and effective coordination of personnel and equipment resources. The role provides structured, hands-on experience in aviation operations management and prepares participants for civilian careers in UAS program management and field operations leadership.Key Responsibilities-Assist in coordinating daily UAS flight operations and mission scheduling-Support compliance with FAA regulations (Part 107 and Part 137 as applicable)-Assist in implementation and enforcement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)-Participate in safety management activities including risk assessments and incident reporting-Support fleet and equipment readiness, maintenance tracking, and logistical coordination-Maintain accurate operational documentation and compliance records-Coordinate personnel scheduling and field resource allocation-Communicate operational details with pilots, team members, and clients-Monitor operational performance and support process improvement effortsTraining & Development FocusParticipants will gain experience in:-Aviation regulatory compliance-Safety management systems (SMS)-Mission planning and risk mitigation-Operational documentation and recordkeeping-Leadership and team coordination-Logistics and asset management-Cost awareness and operational efficiencyQualifications-Active duty Service Member approved for SkillBridge participation-Strong organizational and communication skills-Ability to work in outdoor and field-based environments-Interest in aviation, logistics, agriculture, or operations management-Leadership or supervisory experience preferred but not requiredWork Environment-Combination of office planning and outdoor field operations-Exposure to rural and agricultural work environments-Structured training under supervision of experienced UAS personnelCareer Pathways Upon Completion-UAS Operations Manager-Aviation Operations Coordinator-Field Operations Supervisor-UAS Program Manager-Commercial Drone Operations Leadership Roles

Additional notes

This position involves a combination of office-based planning and outdoor field operations. Participants should be comfortable working in rural environments and variable weather conditions. Occasional travel within the service area may be required. All training is conducted under supervision in accordance with applicable safety and regulatory standards.
