Program summary

The Procurement and Distribution Assistant supports procurement, inventory coordination, fulfillment, and distribution activities within a research, supplement, and manufacturing company. This position provides hands-on training and practical experience in sourcing materials, communicating with vendors, tracking purchase orders, receiving inventory, organizing supplies, preparing shipments, maintaining records, and supporting the movement of materials and finished goods through the company’s supply chain.The role is designed to help the trainee understand how procurement, inventory control, documentation, fulfillment, shipping, and distribution work together in a small-business manufacturing environment. The trainee will work under direct supervision while developing skills that support civilian employment in procurement, logistics, supply chain support, inventory control, distribution, fulfillment, and manufacturing operations.

Roles & job description

The Procurement and Distribution Assistant will assist with day-to-day operational tasks related to purchasing, inventory, receiving, order preparation, shipping, and documentation. The trainee will learn how materials and supplies are sourced, ordered, received, documented, stored, and distributed according to company procedures.Responsibilities may include assisting with vendor communication, comparing supply options, tracking purchase orders, reviewing invoices and packing slips, receiving incoming shipments, verifying quantities, organizing inventory, monitoring stock levels, preparing items for fulfillment, assisting with packaging and shipping preparation, maintaining distribution records, and helping document shipment issues or discrepancies.The trainee will also receive instruction in traceability, quality documentation, SOP adherence, product-handling expectations, professional communication, and basic process improvement. The position will include direct instruction, job shadowing, supervised hands-on training, review of internal procedures, and weekly performance feedback.
