The Shipyard Test Organization is the premier trade made up of a team of world class testers who have the knowledge and skill to be the last in line delivering the most capable warships to the U.S. Navy. In STO, we are a learning organization that operates daily on our foundational pillars of proper planning, integrity, and ownership to complete operational testing with the highest level of formality.
The Operations and Test Supervisors training program provides operations and test supervisors with technical and leadership training to deliver operational excellence. The program focuses on providing dedicated management and technical skills training prior to crew assignment. Facilitating continuous learning throughout the career of an operations or test supervisor, including digital and classroom learning, supervisor meetings, and manager conversations. Structured shadowing activities include determining the critical parts of a Safety Data Sheet, evaluating accident and injury reports, performing a risk assessment, and preparing a pre-job brief. Shadowing discussion topics include working with other levels of management and working with your coach. Observation activities include safety, policies/procedures, planning jobs, and other general activities.
